Gospel Nuggets - The Way of Cain, or the Way of Jesus
John 14:6 (NKJV)
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
Jude 1:11 (NKJV)
Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

Of Mongrels And Prodigals
"...your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and
is found.' " (Luke 15:32)
We have all heard of the story of the Prodigal son in Luke's Gospel account.
The younger brother who:
- shamed his father by demanding his inheritance there and then;
- flittered away this inheritance through sinful lust;
- came to repentance while wallowing in a pig sty;
- was restored by his father on his return home.
And - while the Pharisees listened to the story told by Jesus with grinding teeth, and murderous intentions - we all marvel at the unconditional love, forgiveness, and mercy poured out by the father.
But lurking all the while in the background was another prodigal...

Pruning Back The Weeds
We are all guilty of it.
We do it without thinking.
We are so accustomed to it that it has become like second
nature. Like breathing.
But breathing supplies the oxygen to our lungs - oxygen that
is transported to all the nether regions of our body via the blood network, to
perform functions that our brain requires them to do.

The Camel That Broke The Straw Man's Back

"And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" (Matt 19:24).
"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matt 16:26).
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Tim 6:10)
